About Me:
I am a recent graduate of the School of Information & Library Science (SILS) at UNC-Chapel Hill. SILS is currently the #1 ranked program in the country for this field (as ranked by U.S. News & World Report). I was awarded my Masters degree in Information Science (MSIS) in August 2007 and am currently working as a Web Designer at Duke University Libraries.
In a broad sense, I consider myself an Information Designer. This is perhaps the best term to fully incorporate my four primary areas of interest:
- User Interface Design & Evaluation
- Web Development & Design
- Information Architecture
- Graphic Design
I am unique in that I have a rare blend of creative, artistic sensibility alongside a mathematical problem-solving programmer mind. I care deeply about people and their interactions with information, especially in technological contexts. In a nutshell, I am both skilled and experienced in designing and evaluating information systems to meet user information needs.
This site serves as a compendium of everything I learned and did during my two years in graduate school. If you are a prospective (or current) SILS student and would like more information about the program or my experience there, I'd be happy to discuss it with you.
